Research
Research is a great way to learn more
about subjects that interest you.
As an undergraduate research assistant,
you will participate in cutting-edge investigations.
You will design, develop, and deploy applications,
and you will be an integral member of a research team.
A proven ability to conduct research
collaboratively gives you a distinct
advantage over other recent graduates.
Faculty researchers and graduate students
will mentor you as you hone your analytical,
communicative, and investigative skills.
You can work part-time during the academic year
and full time in the summer.
These paid positions offer an alternative to
corporate internships.
Students may work in either the
Center for the Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets
(CReSIS)
or the
Information and Telecommunication Technology Center
(ITTC).
CReSIS,
a National Science Foundation Science and Technology Center,
specializes in radar design, automated vehicles and robotics,
and image processing.
ITTC’s areas of expertise are in telecommunications,
information systems, bioinformatics, and radar.
Both these centers, which collaborate with industry
and government agencies, support multimillion-dollar
research projects.
