Highlights

The following EECS accolades attest to our commitment in the classroom as well as the laboratory.

  • Within the past few years, six EECS professors have received University-wide Kemper Awards for excellence in teaching.

  • Among others, the KU Center for Teaching Excellence and the School of Engineering have honored faculty with awards and distinguished professorships.

  • Four EECS researchers have served in prominent positions within federal government agencies, developing new research programs and helping create national policy. Currently, Ron Hui, an EECS associate professor, is serving as a National Science Foundation Program Director within the Electronics, Photonics and Device Technologies Program.

  • EECS undergraduates conduct research in two prestigious research centers, a National Science Foundation-sponsored Center and the State of Kansas Center of Excellence for Information and Telecommunications Technology Center.

  • Seventeen EECS professors have achieved Fellow or Senior Member status within IEEE (the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.). The leading professional association honors individuals for their extraordinary accomplishments and years of service.

  • The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) has accredited all three of our degree programs.

  • The Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) and the National Security Agency (NSA) have certified that the EECS Department offers a set of courseware that has been reviewed by National Level Information Assurance Subject Matter Experts and determined to meet the National Training Standards for Information System Security Professionals and System Administrators.
