KU EECS Alumnus Receives Honors

Luiz DaSilva received his BSEE, MSEE, and Ph.D, from KU in 1986, 1988 and 1998, respectively. DaSilva currently holds chair professorship of Telecommunications at Trinity College Dublin. He has been elected a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for his “contributions to cognitive networks and resource management for wireless networks.” DaSilva is an internationally known expert on cognitive networks and the application of game theory to resource management problems in wireless networks. His early work in this area laid the foundation for applying this mathematical tool to radio resource management. DaSilva has authored the first book on the topic, A. B. MacKenzie and L. A. DaSilva, Game Theory for Wireless Engineers, Morgan and Claypool Publishers, 2006.
